Location: Bolton Public Library, 738 Main Street, Bolton
Topic: Good Grief!
Supporting our senior members as they face various kinds of losses in their lives, such as: loss of spouses/partners, children, and friends; loss of the ability to drive; loss of physical capacities; loss of a dear pet and companion; loss of social connections
Special Presenter: Kirsten Muster, MSW, MSG, LCSW
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Gerontologist, Kirsten has had education, training, certification, and many years of experience working in the field of death, dying, loss, and bereavement. She has been trained and certified by renowned grief expert, David Kessler, is a bereavement counselor with hospice, and currently teaches about Death, Dying, and Loss at California State University, Long Beach.
Questions we will explore:
- How can we be good and caring listeners for our members?
- What boundaries and limits should we maintain since we are not professional social workers or therapists?
- What strategies might we use or share with members that might help them better understand and cope with their losses?
